The Emotional Side of Hearing Loss: January 16th, 6 PM – 7:30 PM

‘The NYC chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America will have its annual interactive meeting on January 16 from 6:00-7:30. Jeff Wax will speak and moderate a discussion on the emotional side of hearing loss.

Jeffrey Wax, LCSW-R, is the Director of the Emotional Health and Wellness Center at the Center for Hearing and Communication where he has worked the since 2002. Mr. Wax has provided counseling services to people who are deaf or hard of hearing for over 20 years and has worked with clients of all ages, gender, sexual orientation, and hearing ability. Mr. Wax has coordinated and presented at numerous regional and national conferences and in university settings on a variety of mental health issues and policies. He received his master’s degree in social work from Hunter College in 1994 and has been certified by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Prior to working at CHC, Mr. Wax was on staff at large NYC metropolitan hospitals as well as in smaller social service agencies and mental health clinical settings. He is also experienced as a Field Placement instructor and supervisor for graduate school interns and maintains a small private practice.
