Police have released a new clue two years after an 18-year-old college student was severely injured by an explosive that went off in Central Park exactly on July 3, 2016. A bag from a bakery called La Unica was found at the scene. There do not appear to be any such bakeries in the city.
The Post reports that police think the explosives were kept in the bakery bag.
Connor Golden, who was 18 at the time and visiting the city from Virginia, was climbing on rocks in the park near Fifth Avenue and 60th Street when he stepped on an explosive. His foot had to be amputated after the blast. Police have not arrested anyone for the incident.
It appears the bakery or company is located in Miami?
I just checked it out on Amazon.
Have the police or others tried to investigate there?

According to Google Maps there are two locations across the river in New Jersey.
There are two in Jersey City
Thank you Inspector Clouseau.
This is a real scary mystery. I think it was a terror-attack trial run.
Central Park receives 35,000,000 visits each year, give or take. good luck.
I thought the local news reported that the bakery was in New Jersey.
A quick google search show many hits for a La Unica Bakery and Café located in both Jersey City and Union City, NJ. I see that the logo on the cracker-wrapper evidence is different that the logo used throughout the NJ bakery branding. Maybe the wrapper has an outdated version of the logo? Or maybe it has nothing to do with the NJ businesses at all? As another poster pointed out, there are also La Unica crackers for sale on Amazon; those too have a different logo than than the package the crackers’ mug shot.
Funny how people think the NYPD haven’t done an on-line search.
A most curious case; my sympathies to the victim and his family.
Why are parts of the bag taped over? Was this done by the NYPD? Or was this how it was found?
