Late last year, the city repaved 96th Street from Central Park West to West End Avenue, known as one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the neighborhood. But for months, workers didn’t add lane lines or crosswalks, causing consternation among residents there.
Well, the wait is over now. In the past few days, the city has painted in the crosswalks. The Department of Transportation, which previously blamed bad weather in part for the delays, did not respond to our latest questions about the timing.

We’re being SO ripped off by the DOT, by the MTA etc!
Meanwhile.. look at the filthy streets and the scaffolding that stays up for years. Pathetic.
Wishful thinking WSR,
Just crossed 96 at WEA.
No crosswalk but plenty of obstacles.
Listening for ambulances.
A Haiku.
That’s not a haiku.
That’s not on topic. The topic under discussion is After Lengthy Wait, 96th Street Gets Crosswalks.
You prefer, rather than join the conversation to snark about spelling and the like.
Try the discussion. That’s the whole purpose.
That’s not a haiku either.
two lines of 5 syllables, and one with 7 in the middle makes a haiku. How about you write one Mark? Or are you just a critic and not an artist? 😉
Spelling isn’t your problem, but an incorrect count of syllables.
Fixed it for you:
Just Crossed Ninety-Sixth
No Crosswalk, but obstacles
Listen for Sirens
😉
Sid,
Yours IS art, mine an attempt at Beat Poetry (sans bongos).
My reference to spelling was not about the poem, but in reaction to this:
Mark says:

It’s money laundering, not money laundry.
You will sood discover that Mark’s replies are just contrary. No discussion, no ideas. Nothing.
They also added them to 96 and WEA (marking them at rush hour one morning), and within a few days, dug up the intersection and there are now metal plates on 96th/WEA, on 96th on east side. Amazing lack of coordination.
Looks like the car chase scene from The Seven Ups. Go to the 4:00 minute mark of this:

They must be using this at UWS Driving School.
A million Views, a lot of aggressive drivers.
