A fire broke out in a second floor apartment at the Majestic, an historic building at 8 West 72nd Street on Friday morning, and it was raging as of about 10:30 a.m.
The FDNY got the call at 10:18 a.m. and sent 25 units, consisting of 108 firefighters and EMS professionals. No injuries were reported, and it was under control as of 11:45 a.m., a spokesman said. The fire marshal will determine the cause.
Steven Weiss, who took one of the photos below, said an EMT worker told him one elderly woman was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

Lucky not worse. Any policy implications?
I heard the building on-site resident manager condoned and participated in a drone being flown twice from the 20th floor building’s huge terrace. A friend of mine lives in that building and complained vehemently. Glad they didn’t fly a drone when the fire broke out hurting the fire department. The building staff are apparently amazing.
I’ve worked in this building for 14 years and yes, the staff are great guys.
