Make Music New York, a festival that puts on concerts in various parts of the city, is holding a special “pilgrimage” this Thursday through Riverside Park. And everyone’s invited!
“Headlamp-clad singers walk a route along Riverside Park while singing medieval melodies once sung on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, in this case en route to the renowned Cathedral of St. John The Divine. Singers of all skill levels are invited to join, from absolute beginners to early music specialists — no rehearsal necessary.”
The gathering starts at Symphony Space’s Bar Thalia on 95th and Broadway at 5:30 p.m. The procession will begin at 6 p.m. sharp and wind its way to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on 114th and Amsterdam.
“Please send an email with the subject line “Pilgrimage” to info@MakeMusicNY.org to give us a sense of the total number of participants. Headlamps and scores will be distributed on loan for the first twenty-five singers to arrive. Or feel free to bring your own illumination and printed scores: just click here to download the files!”
Make Music has other concerts throughout the city on Thursday too. See the full schedule here.
