On Thursday night in Central Park, musicians will play along to an animated film called Nysferatu based on the Dracula-inspired movie Nosferatu. The free show will take place at Mineral Springs around 69th Street towards the west side of the park (see map below). Learn more here and see a video clip below. (Sorry for the short notice, but we literally just found out about this.)
“NYsferatu is a rotoscope recreation of Friedrich W. Murnau’s seminal 1922 film Nosferatu, itself an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Each background scene has been entirely redrawn to set the film in present day New York City.”
musicians being husband and wife Nels Cline and Yuka Honda. The world knows Nels through Wilco and Yuka through Cibo Matto. They’e maybe not household names to many, but they’re extremely well respected in smaller circles.
Do you know if Nels and Yuka will perform the music we hear in the video clip? Or something else entirely?
Oh wow. I wish I had known about this sooner. Going to try my best to go!
Looks cool, but article does not mention the time of the screening. Had to follow the link and scroll way down to learn tonight’s screening is at 7:30.
The link takes you to a listing of ALL of the screenings. It’s showing at other places as well.
