Sharat Iyer, a doctor and father of an 8-month-old baby, went missing after leaving his home at 300 West 108th Street just before midnight on Feb. 19. His wife told DNAinfo that he had been suffering from depression.
“Iyer had been depressed and anxious recently, Iwaki said. He often goes for walks, but Iwaki became concerned when he didn’t return after about an hour.
Then, at about 1 a.m., she received an email from her husband addressed to their daughter, saying goodbye to the child.”
Update: DNAinfo reports that he has been found in good health, according to his wife.
He is a psychiatrist who works at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Iyer was described as standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing 150 pounds, she added.
He was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans, a blue T-shirt and gray sneakers, according to a missing poster released by police.
