Five people, including three firefighters, were injured in a blaze at 216 West 100th Street on Sunday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. Sixty firefighters were sent to battle the fire, and they used ladder trucks to pull people out of the building, a witness told us.
The fire was considered “non-suspicious,” an FDNY spokesman told us, but the exact cause was still under investigation. The fire was called in at 2:39 p.m., and was under control at 4:28.
Five people were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with minor injuries.
The address is listed as The Midway Hotel, but a woman who answered the phone there Sunday evening said it’s an apartment building and remains open and operating.
