Terrence Williams, HLAA chapter board member and assistant director of the Center for Hearing and Communication’s Berelson Hearing and Technology Center; and Carolyn Stern, CHC’s Director of Outreach and Strategic Initiatives, will discuss how you can make your home environment safer through technology. They will introduce and demonstrate low cost or free and easy to use solutions including alerting devices and apps designed for people with hearing loss.

Terrence Williams is a hearing instrument specialist with more than 25 years of experience at the Center for Hearing and Communication working with all types of hearing devices. His technical expertise is indispensable in the repair, testing, and fitting of hearing aids, as well as ongoing follow-up care and counseling. Additionally, Terrence is fluent in assistive listening and alerting technology that helps people who are deaf or hard of hearing be safe and communicate better. On Thursdays at 2:00PM, you’ll find Terrence leading our free weekly group devices demo where you can learn about captioned phones, wireless TV headsets, and vibrating alarm clocks.
Carolyn Ginsburg Stern, is the Director of Outreach and Strategic Initiatives at the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC), a not-for-profit hearing rehabilitation center based in New York City. As a bilateral cochlear implant user. She helps others hear and connect better with tips, technical information and support and is passionate about the role of healthy hearing in helping people lead productive and connected lives. She is a proud graduate of HLAA’s N-CHATT (Network of Consumer Hearing Assistive Technology Trainers) program where she learned how to train other adults with hearing loss about hearing assistive technology. Prior to working at CHC, she had an extensive career in product management and marketing roles at American Express and other large corporations. She earned her MBA at Columbia University School of Business and BA at Northwestern University.
