A severe thunderstorm late Monday afternoon smashed trees throughout the neighborhood, even slamming one into a moving car.

“Around 4:30 the wind blew up like a tornado, and I heard this loud noise outside. Some kind of glass or plastic covering, possibly over someone’s terrace or balcony, came down with a mighty thwack and a little while later, firemen showed up to dismantle it, as it was blocking the street. Scared my cat Nuffle to death.”
There was at least some payoff at the end:

Nuffle?!? So sorry for your loss! :'(
I only hope Nuffle recovers from his (her?) trauma
Nuffle hid for hours, but she’s her old self today. Thanks for asking.
May have been a tornado?
Brilliant photos. Many thanks to all.
Cats have nine lives, so getting scared to death is a trauma that can be overcome; Inspirational creatures, cats.
I left town on Monday morning, so I missed the drama. Missing the beautiful parts of the aftermath a trauma so thanks for those great photos!
