Looks like he was walking against the light. Either way, cars/drivers have a tendency to do stupid things on Riverside Drive. They treat it like an open road / hwy
It appears so. The driver might not have been guilty of anything until he left the scene. At least he turned himself in.
The driver apparently turned himself in.
Guy had no choice, NYPD was sure to sniff him out rather quickly.

Long story short the driver, Brayard Arno, 28, had his New York drivers license suspended *three times* previously. The man still had open court cases for one or more of those incidents. Yet he was *STILL* driving yet again (without a valid license it seems) the night he hit the Columbia student.
Most have been a camera right there. It’s horrifying!
