The Reiss window had been repaired as of Friday.
By Carol Tannenhauser
After two store windows and a clock were smashed earlier in the week, another store was vandalized between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The employees of Reiss, a British boutique on 69th and Columbus Avenue, came in on Thursday morning to find their front window smashed by a brick, an employee said. Police are investigating.
release some CCTV images so we can see the lovely person or persons who are doing this
It obvious whats going on. The stores that have been hit are all chain/big box stores theta UWS go on and on about being so terrible and ruining the neighborhood. Mind you, that is while they rush into these high shops to get want they want. Don’t believe me? The next trash day look at the clear bags put out by buildings around the neighborhood. You can see the boxes/bags from where people have been shopping
I thought it was bad enough how everyone on the UWS seems to be counting everyone else’s money.
But I had no idea they were going through our garbage as well. I guess you are just gathering intel though, right??
No one is going through anyone’s garbage.
There are poles of clear bags all over the neighborhood everyday. You can clearly see all the large logos on the packaging in them. As well as the fact that most buildings use the boxes to stack newspapers in when they but out.
Just open your eyes
why, on this “liberal” UWS do so many people think it ok to judge what their neighbors are doing with their own lives. What a change from our really liberal past. It seems to me that their is too much minding others business .
Maybe you don’t remember but during “our really liberal past” the UWS – and most of the city for that matter – was a dangerous and crime-ridden area.
In this year’s general election donations to both of the two major parties have been deemed to split evenly between them. The UWS must then not be what it once was politically.

The Times They are a’Changing
and not in the way the song meant.
Be strong.
Re: “The stores that have been hit are all chain/big box stores”
Really? Though they be national brands, neither LuluLemon nor Brooks Bros. are “big box” stores (such as “Best Buy” or “Bed, Bath, & Beyond”) and Reiss London is a classically small-but-very-upscale merchant.
“…. that is while they rush into these high shops to get want they want.”
Yep! It’s called “Free Enterprise” and “Freedom of Choice”…concepts found in EVERY First-World country. Criticizing people for spending THEIR money on THEIR preferences sounds like you are a strong believer in a managed economy, as was Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro, and Hugo Chavez…and check how wonderful their policies were for the ordinary Russians, Cubans, and Venezuelans.
Or, you could just be a self-appointed Common Scold, straight out of Puritan New England.
The only people I’m criticizing here are the folks that smashed the window. I’m a very firm believer in your being able to spend your hard earned $$$ where ever and when ever you want. The term big box is often used to refer to chain stores not just physically large stores like best buy etc.
The sad part of all of this is that some people can’t get there point arcos by talking, violence is increasingly becoming an acceptable for of social discourse.
I have a hunch the same people who shop at these stores are not the ones throwing the bricks.
But it may be the children of the people who shop at these stores! This has Entitlef Punk Rock Angst written all over it.
Its far more likely to be some teens from a housing project or adults from a homeless shelter. The UWS is not open minded. Being a ‘liberal’ on the UWS in 2016 means being very judgmental. Everyone is supposed to believe the same things, vote the same way , etc. If you don’t you are labeled as a racist, sexist, xenophobe, homophobe etc. Its not a tolerant place at all. No diversity of thought is tolerated. Unless you’re a Muslim of course- they can believe whatever they wish and it isn’t questioned one bit. Why people who promote women’s rights and gay rights support bringing more people who are opposed to those things into America is a question that cant be asked on the UWS. its sad and pathetic really.
Brooks brothers window wash smashed last week in the same way.
Sorry just read the other article see they all ready reported it.
Thinking they were riding a citi-bike
John, thanks for explaining the reason behind putting your comment here.
But please don’t bring up biking instead. I now avoid the discussions of biking, Presidential Elections, and school rezoning as the pitch in those discussions is too high for me.
