The West Side Community Garden on 89th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam is hosting two free movie nights this summer in its flower-filled amphitheater and the first one is on Friday night. Bring folding chairs or a blanket to sit on.
Friday, August 5, 8 p.m.: Cinema Paradiso (1988) (155 minutes)
A filmmaker recalls his childhood, when he fell in love with the movies at his village’s theater and formed a deep friendship with the theater’s projectionist.
Friday, August 12, 8 p.m.: Enchanted April (1991) (93 minutes)
Four women rent a chateau on a remote Italian island to try to come to grips with their lives and relationships. They explore the differences in their personalities, reassess their goals, and reexamine their relationships in a sisterly fashion.
