Four blocks will be closed off on Columbus for Bloomingdale Family Days this year.
A special street fair and food fest called Bloomingdale Family Days will take over Columbus Avenue between 106th and 110th street on Sunday. As part of the event, local restaurants will serve food from 2 to 4 p.m. at Columbus and 109th. Learn more below.
Taste of Bloomingdale: Flavors of the World (Columbus Ave. at 109th St) 2-4pm
Tickets are required for each tasting, and can be purchased from the BID table (outside of 983 Columbus Ave on the day of) for $3/ticket or $5/2 tickets. Proceeds will go towards the promotion of area restaurants, through the Bloomingdale Restaurant Association.
ART, MUSIC, and & DANCING:
- Live music throughout the day by Casa Mantequilla
- Strolling musical performances by What a Neighborhood!, the Accordoleles, and a barbershop quartet
- Mexican folk dancing on the main stage
- Poetry reading and art/photography project demonstration, with the West Side Arts Coalition
- Art in the garden at Mobilization for Change Community Garden

- FDNY Battalion 11 Firetruck (2-4pm) at 106th St

How about a presentation to promote helmet use, esp. for youth, esp. for skateboarding? Seems sorely needed, at least if my observations are any indication.
It was lots of fun – had a real neighborhood feel to it!
