Fr. O’connor was the finest person I have ever known. A real man of God with a heart of gold. Pure. His loss has affected a whole community and is still hard to come to terms with. So many of us loved him dearly and deeply. I miss you so much.
Fr. O’Connor will be missed. He was my 2nd pastor (@ Holy Name). He was my first boss (I worked @ the rectory all 4yrs of High School). He was a mentor, a counselor, a friend. No kinder spirit, no gentler man. RIP.
Was Monsignor Robert O’Connor the current pastor at Blessed
Sacrament Parish at 71st street, or was he retired? We attended there two years ago (we are from Illinois) and I think
there was another pastor at the time whom we liked very much. I think he was an interim pastor who had been asked to stay on full-time. There was a homeless center for families in the basement. Is it still there?
Fr O’Connor retired a couple of years ago. The shelter in the basement has gone – – it was intended as a shelter for AIDS sufferers but it turned out none of the residents had aids.
Fr. O’Connor Rest in Peace my brother. You truly were a Prince.
