A developer is set to build a seven-story luxury apartment building on a narrow development site on West 75th street where another residential project was rejected a few years ago. The site currently houses a two-story commercial building.
Real Estate Weekly reports that the project at 207 West 75th street between Amsterdam and Broadway recently received a construction loan.
“Jeffrey Cole Architects has designed the 20,000 s/f, seven-story building. It will have 5,000 s/f of ground-level and lower-level retail, and full-floor luxury units, including a five-bedroom, duplex penthouse with rooftop garden.
The building exterior and unit interiors were designed as a modern take on pre-war buildings, with high-end trim and amenities, according to the architects.”

Permits to build a seven-story structure were approved in October. A previous development plan for the site was rejected after neighbors — including NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan — opposed it.
The architecture – um, meh? But lots of good stuff happening in the West 70s & 80s. Hoping for a trickle-up effect in the West 90s & 100s.
Ugly. There goes the nabe, again.
Paul:Hi: I wish the trickle up was happening in the 70’s-80’s. But when we have trader Joe with their mess and lines in front of my bldg and the book sellers off their meds and the new young homeless with dogs …..well it’s not good. Then further up -there’s the depressing Marshall’s–why here?? Everything from China and plastic. Trickle up could be a Target store or wow how about Costco? So be careful what you wish for…..you too could get some big box junk store.
That building used to house Ansonia Vet and Skip’s doggie day care…I miss them both! Ansonia combined with Riverside and moved to 79th but Skip’s was a real loss to a lot of dog owners in the hood.
Hmmm. Looks just fine at 6 stories.
Will the Iight of day ever shine between Broadway and
Amsterdam again?
