Learn more about an attempted heist at Century 21 and other crimes in the 20th precinct below.
Trade tools were stolen from a construction worker’s truck while it was parked at 59th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The man returned to his vehicle at 6 a.m. on February 3 to find that the passenger window had been jimmied and a longhandled driver, socket set, punch pliers, battery recharger, were among the $1,250 worth of tools stolen.
Two women were observed removing property from a display at Century 21, the discount high-fashion retailer at 1972 Broadway, on February 4 at about 1:30 p.m. They allegedly placed the merchandise inside a bag and attempted to exit the store without stopping at the registers. The women, ages 27 and 33, were arrested with approximately $1,250 in merchandise.
Officers responding to a burglary in progress call at 2:05 a.m. on February 5th at Pour, the wine shop at 321 Amsterdam, canvassed the area and found a 25 year old man fitting the description. When they stopped him for questioning, the man attempted to remove a blue and white scarf from his head, and dropped a large metal wrench from his coat. He had apparently used the wrench to remove the handle from the door of the wine store.
Suggestion for WSR:
Can you report the cross streets of locations rather than addresses?
Wow that sweater is ugly. I assume this is the merchandise that was left after thieves stole the attractive sweaters.
