FX Spy show “The Americans” was filming on Tuesday in the West 90’s and the area was flooded with actors showcasing “Russian fashion” (the classic oxymoron). That area has been booked pretty constantly with film shoots in recent weeks, and some locals are increasingly perturbed. One wrote to us today complaining that Joan of Arc Park was suddenly closed.
“There are no permits posted (if they’re up, they’re not in plain view) and the “info sheet” that was up didn’t list that as a spot for shooting. I try to roll with the punches, but there’s been so much filming lately, and I caught a bit of attitude from one of the crew this morning while I was walking my dog. It’s getting old!”
We called the number on a poster for the shoot and spoke with a location coordinator who said they had a permit to film in the park and the shoot should be over by midnight Tuesday. (For what it’s worth, she was quite nice and offered to connect us with someone on the site of the shoot.)

Great Show . Keep up the good work and please use my neighborhood anytime for your backdrop
I live on w 92nd and have no problem with filming on and around my street. New York is great location for filming and we should film more here, not less! Lets not move the entire film industry to Vancouver!
That was my email from this morning. They were done shooting (at least inside the park) when I walked by around noon, but unless I got bum info today, a permit to shoot doesn’t allow them to close the park to the pubic altogether — only for brief periods while they are rolling. It doesn’t bother me that they’re here but I don’t need to be scolded by a Teamster for trying to walk my dog.
I saw more signs tonight warning that they will be returning next week, so be prepared!
