Does anyone know why the west side M86 bus countdown clock kiosks that were installed using a huge amount of discretional CB7 funding have, after working for only a few weeks, not functioned at all since early summer?
Yes! My brother & I loved those little seats;it was a treat

The Checker cabs had a roomy passenger area with lots of leg room and the fold down seats meant a family or group could share one cab. The current crop of taxis have little leg room. I’m 5’6″ and find them very uncomfortable. The SUV type can be very difficult for many people to get into.
With the high cost of a cab ride and lack of regard for the passenger’s comfort it is not surprising that Uber has grown so quickly in New York
I agree with Tee-it’s impossible to get into those new cabs with the sliding doors and high entry steps. I can’t imagine who designed them -foolish. I’ve never seen anyone get into these without a hassle. Usually the driver gets out to struggle with the door. Really! I wonder who got paid off for this.

1. Somebody forgot to wind them?
2. New York State didn’t fund the MTA’s clock maintenance contract??
3. Somebody really “cleaned these clocks”???
I’m surprised no one has tried to bring back those Checkered cabs using hybird engines. I’m sure people would appreciate them.
Your past is checkered.
It’s CHECKER cab, not “checkered”. Checker was the manufacturer.
As a kid, I loved to ride on the little fold out jump seats in the back.
