Central Park’s Wild West Playground just off of Central Park West and 93rd street has reopened after a reconstruction that added new sprinklers, swings and climbers and made the playground more accessible for children with disabilities. It also created separate areas for children of different ages.
The playground was first built in 1935-36. Learn more here.
The playground was renovated as part of the Central Park Conservancy’s Plan for Play project to renovate all 21 playgrounds in the park.
Thanks to Sharon for the tip.
Finally. That renovation, while welcome, took forever. Especially the last 10% of the work.
Does anyone know when the upper playground at 68th street in Central Park will reopen?
When will the fix up the Safari playground and the dust bowl between 86-88th?
Are these kept a mess to remind people what the park used to look like?
