Dr. Rogelio Lucas, 77, and his wife Lydia, 80, were arrested Tuesday and charged with selling 28,000 prescriptions for oxycodone worth $77 million.
The couple was arrested at their home on West 95th street and charged with 37 charges of illegally selling a controlled substance, according to the Daily News. The doctor has an office on 101st street.
“By all accounts, Dr. Lucas initially operated a family practice that mostly accommodated patients covered by Medicaid.
That all changed in 2009 when he began to write prescriptions for oxycodone while his wife collected approximately $120 in cash in exchange, the criminal complaint says.”
The couple pleaded not guilty and bail was set at $500,000.

Hey, there are a lot of old folk around here with hurting joints and stuff. lol.
28,000 times $120 does not equal $77 million. Not even close.
