The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will return to Lincoln Center for a two-week, 15 performance engagement next month.
The dancers will be performing Matthew Rushing’s Odetta, which is about folk and blues musician Odetta Homes, and Hofesh Shecter’s Uprising, a study of institutional violence against black males through dance.
Other highlights from the show include a new production of Talley Beatty’s Toccata; the world premiere of Rennie Harris’ Exodus, the company premiere of Robert Battle’s No Longer Silent, and a new production of Judith Jamison’s “A Case of You” duet from Reminiscin’. This is also the last chance to see Wayne McGregor’s Chroma in Ailey’s repertory.
Odetta was called “a masterpiece” by the Chicago Sun-Times; Uprising includes “perhaps the edgiest choreography the Ailey troupe has tackled yet,” says the Boston Globe.
The show will run from June 10-21,with tickets starting at $25. You can get more information and order tickets online, at the Koch Theater box office, or by phone at 212-496-0600. Learn more about the performances here.

Just found it curious that the wife of Citibank’s deregulation monster Sandy Weil (the one who has placed his name on Cornell Medical School) is the benefactress of 30 million dollar years of Ailey.
Why do you find it curious that Sandy Weil is a large benefactor of Ailey? Or are you part of that ignorant part of society that believes Wall Street can only do wrong, and not thoughtful enough to notice how philanthropic many members of the Wall Street community are? Look around at which corporations and individuals support many of the arts, parks and amazing things around our beautiful city.
Valid point vf, but Weil wasn’t originally Wall St money, he was the Bankster who broke the wall between the Bank as a utility and investment banks (speculation)
