Bank Street Bookstore will hold its grand opening on Saturday, with 30 children’s book authors stopping by to read, sign books and meet readers. It’s an exciting day for the new store, part of an improbable renaissance of the neighborhood’s bookstore culture. (Yes, we need about 4 more stores to call it a true renaissance and Bank Street is actually moving rather than opening a new store, but still…)
This store and the Book Culture on Columbus need community engagement to stay open, so do your best to support their efforts!
People can case stop by the new store at 2780 Broadway (107th street) between 9:45 a.m. and 5:30 on Saturday for the ribbon-cutting and more. Here’s a list of the authors who will be in attendance and there’s more on the event here.
Remarks and Ribbon Cutting: 9:45 to 11:00 a.m.
Author readings, signings, and Q&A: 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Have loved shopping at Bank Street book store since my daughter began at the School For Children in 1975 – back in the days when the store was in the lobby of the Bank Street College / School For Children building on West 112th Street. Now, I shop at the book store for my 2 grandsons. Here’s to your continued success for many generations to come!

Surely, the Bank Street Bookstore must have prominently featured the Bank Street Writer back in its day, perhaps even running demonstrations of or workshops in its use.
