A two-alarm fire on West 78th street injured one firefighter on Monday afternoon and a reader tells us a burst pipe led to an evacuation at the AMC Theater on 84th and Broadway.
The fire started at 1:11 p.m. in the basement of 314 West 78th street. Smoke poured out of the five-story building, and the street filled with fire trucks. One firefighter suffered minor injuries in the blaze, which was under control as of 2:35 p.m.
Joan Paylo tells us the AMC Loews was evacuated on Monday afternoon and Harry’s Shoes had to be closed because of a frozen pipes burst. “50 Shades of Ice” she joked. That joke left me coooold. Update: ABC News reported that water filled the lobby and it’s not clear how long the theater will be closed for repairs.

Thanks to everyone who sent in tips.
CVS at 77th and Broadway also closed Monday due to burst pipe. They were allowing people to pick up prescriptions – but no on could enter the store.
The best pharmacy is “Broadway Family Pharmacy” on 84th and Bway inside Pricewise.
