The SUV driver that hit and killed photographer Guler Ugur-Yaacobi on New Year’s Eve at 113th street and Amsterdam Avenue is still on the loose five days after the crime, and police are asking for help from the public. They’ve released a video of the vehicle (below) as it fled the scene three blocks from the crash. A CBS report says the vehicle is a Land Rover and in the video it has a broken passenger-side headlight and a banged-up bumper (which may or may not have been fixed since).
Ugur-Yaacobi was a photographer and marathon runner who was born in Turkey. On New Year’s Eve, she was on her way to a peace concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine when she was hit around 6:10 p.m.
“He hit someone who was so caring and so sensitive to people and their needs. It’s very devastating,” her friend Toby Turkel said.

From the way he rounded that corner, anyone walking (with the light) would have been in serious danger. Even the most aware pedestrian would not have had time to react. This guy/gal MUST go down!
There must be other surveillance cameras along the path this SUV is known to have taken, hopefully one(s) that can catch its back license plate. If any such cameras were recording, it would be relatively easy to pinpoint the date and time the SUV would have passed. I know Chloe or CTU (references to 24) could do this in 15 seconds, but even if it took a few days, a very worthwhile investigation.
Get that fella’s number! Get his number!
