Separate crashes over the past couple of days have resulted in injuries to a pedestrian and a motorcyclist in and around the neighborhood.
On Tuesday, a motorcyclist was hit while working on his motorcycle, the Daily News reported.
A 22-year-old was struck and critically wounded while trying to tend to his disabled motorcycle on the Henry Hudson Parkway early Tuesday, cops said.
The 2:40 a.m. accident happened in the southbound middle lane, at West 70th St.
The victim, whose identity wasn’t immediately released, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, and is in critical condition.
We heard about it from a nearby resident: “I live on Riverside Blvd. and was awoken this morning at 4 am by a police helicopter and two police boats searching the Hudson by Pier I. The highway south bound had been shut down and there was a motorcycle and black sedan on the road which had apparently been involved in the accident.”
On Wednesday morning, a woman was hit in the crosswalk at 79th and Broadway, the News reported.
The woman, whose identity wasn’t released, was hit at 6:10 a.m. at W. 79th St. and Broadway and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in serious condition, an FDNY spokesman said.
We are checking with police to learn if they have further details.
The UWS of busy body bureaucrats, boldly bland bored babes of bankers, kvetch every damn week about everyday traffic accidents, culture be damned as they ban craft shows, even. Welcome to Marxism, citizens.
Hey Nik, give it a rest. The hate is too strong. Humans being injured is not an occasion for a celebration of hate.
Clearly, you have some issues.
For the love of humanity, stop hating young people.
Don’t feed the troll, B W. It only encourages him.
Today’s troll report is brought to you by the letter B.
As a resident of the neighborhood for nearly 50 years, I have seen the population growth in the UWS. Developments; new high rises; several thousands of more people in the hood , , , all while the infrastructure remains to be upgraded. Expect more incidents, as our streets get flooded with residents and their vehicles 🙁
I think these are scary. Prayers to the families of both. I really hope they will have safe recoveries, and that IF appropriate, we will see accountability for the drivers here.
OMG how much more of this are we going to stand for?? There need to be traffic cops at the intersections of 86th st. and 79th st. NOW!! Who do we talk to?? Gail Brewer?? People of the UWS we need to do something. I personally fought with a rude cabbie who HAD TO make a light the other day and endangered us in the crosswalk. Not to mention the people turning across broadway and not stopping at the light at the median.
Come on neighbors, what do we do??
Seems that incidents like this, along with pedestrian accidents and robberies, have become much more prevalent since DeBlasio moved into Gracie Mansion.
