The National Weather Service issued a thunderstorm warning at around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday. There wasn’t much rain, but the winds were set to hit 50 mph, and they caused scaffolding at 62nd street and Broadway to come crashing down, as reported by NBC News. (a commenter on their site who apparently sent in the photo says it was on West End not Broadway)
The station says no one was injured in the collapse.
