The cafe inside Riverside Park at 105th street should reopen soon, as the owners of The Ellington restaurant on 106th street and Amsterdam have apparently won the parks department’s concession to operate it.
The cafe did not open this year after the previous owner lost the concession. It’s a great spot with beautiful views, but the food had gotten mixed reviews in recent years, and it was shut down temporarily at one point for health violations.
The Ellington plans to serve food and alcohol and have live and recorded music, according to Community Board 7. It will have upper and lower levels, just like it did before. Managers at the restaurant were unavailable to discuss when it might open.
The license will be discussed at a community board hearing on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at 250 West 87th street. Also on the agenda: a license for a new spot owned by Whispers Bar, Lounge and Restaurant LLC at 210 West 94th street, the current home of Indian restaurant Tandoori.

This is great news! Sunsets & drinks over the Hudson are here again!
That’s great! No doubt they will do a better job than V.D. O’Hurlmelunch’s
Huzzah!
What was the outcome of this? Are we destined to enjoy a new cafe in the park next year?
