Vegan restaurant Cafe Blossom closed a couple of months ago. But the owners have now snagged a new lease, planning to take over the former home of Casa Pomona on 84th street and Columbus. A tipster pointed out the new restaurant’s liquor license application last week and today the New York Post reported that the restaurant plans to open in August. They’re planning to serve liquor and add a tapas menu.
“At 1,800 square feet with seating for around 100 people and another 14 at the bar, the restaurant will also have a private-event space,” the Post reported.
Smaller spinoff Blossom du Jour is also opening soon at 81st and Amsterdam.
Flex Mussels, the West Village restaurant that had been expected to move into the Casa Pomona space, won’t be opening there.

Well I learned a new thing today, Vegan liquor exists! There’s a cool list at https://www.barnivore.com/. I’ll be watching what their kosher certification does with this — a number of the list’s entries are not kosher.
Oh, YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is Flex Mussels going to open elsewhere on the UWS?
It’s not clear yet. We’ve reached out to them. WSR
I was told that it is not going to be a full restaurant like the closed blossom, bit a blossom du jour which is primarily take out.
