Jewelry designer Robin Rotenier jumped from the window of his apartment on 97th street and West End Avenue on Tuesday afternoon around 12:30, police told the New York Post.
“The Paris-born designer, who graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, started his own line, Rotenier New York, in 1993.
Best known for his handcrafted cufflinks, his sterling silver collections for both men and women are sold in Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman.”
Rotenier was 51. He is the second person to jump from an Upper West Side building in the past week; lawyer Stephen Hertz died on Friday.
Very sad.
If someone you know exhibits warning signs of suicide: do not leave the person alone; remove any firearms, alcohol, drugs or sharp objects that could be used in a suicide attempt; and call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or take the person to an emergency room or seek help from a medical or mental health professional.
Thank you for sharing this helpful advice. We need increased awareness of what to do in these situations.
For his friends & family ..I am deeply sorry for your loss … a
this is very sad. I second Arlene’s thoughts above.
Why is this news if no reason his ending his life is mentioned.
Well I happen to think someone jumping to their death off a building and the fact it’s in our neighborhood and he was an accomplished designer is very, very sad and newsworthy.
someone always seems to have a nasty or stupid comment…
He was the second in a week (news) and it happened in our neighborhood (local news).
