Kick up your heels in this two-bedroom apartment at The Aire on 67th street for a measly $13,000 a month.
Average rents on the Upper West Side mostly rose in October, although asking rents for apartments with two-bedrooms in buildings without doormen fell dramatically, according to a report put out by real estate firm MNS.
In general, rents in the neighborhood have been on the upswing for the last few years, with a few dips. It’s not clear why two-bedrooms without doormen saw a price drop to $3,777 in October from $3,957 a year before (studios without doormen also fell slightly month over month, but not year over year). It might have to do with the nature of the inventory that just hit the market, or some other fluke. But as a renter, I’ll take it.
Below, check out the average rents for each apartment type, and a graph showing the change in rental prices over the past year.
October 2013
- Studio (with doorman) $2,728
- Studio (no doorman) $2,182
- One-bedroom (with doorman) $3,872
- One-bedroom (no doorman) $2,822
- Two-bedroom (with doorman) $6,273
- Two bedroom (no doorman) $3,777

Rents may be higher in doormen buildings because the cost of labor for the doormen!
Absolute madness!
Looks like the City is getting a bargain for the rooms it rents for homeless folks at a mere $82 a night. Why are the critics complaining?
Wow!! Rents are too damn high. Obviously, there is no such thing as low-income or affordable housing any more on the UWS.
Senor Bloomberg is getting his wish to make NYC a city for only the very, very rich.
