Juilliard Jazz Quartet | A New Day, New Beginning

Founded in 2010, Juilliard’s resident jazz ensemble (saxophonist Ron Blake, pianist Frank Kimbrough, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Carl Allen) performs original member-composed works in addition to jazz classics and favorite standards by Mulgrew Miller and Thelonious Monk. Part of the Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series.

Flute Competition Finals

Juilliard flutists play Ibert’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra, Op. 37 for a competition in which the winner will perform the work with the Juilliard Orchestra conducted Nicholas McGegan on September 28.

Internationally-renowned Finnish pianist Matti Raekallio performs Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in E Major, Op. 109; Brahms’ Three Intermezzi, Op. 117; Rautavaara’s Piano Sonata No. 2, “The Fire Sermon;” and Liszt’s arrangement by Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture.
