“Holy Crap the upper west side apple store is on fire,” wrote Greg Martin on twitter.
A fire broke out this morning at Ollie’s Noodles on 67th Street and Broadway, filling the air with smoke and causing the neighboring Apple store to shut down. Don’t worry. No iPads were apparently harmed. The fire started around 9:45 a.m. at Ollie’s, DNAinfo reported.
“The blaze quickly seeped into the restaurant’s ductwork, shooting plumes of smoke out from the noodle shop, fire officials said.” The fire was out in about 45 minutes, and no one was injured. People who live in the building that houses Ollie’s also had to be evacuated.
Numerous people, like the man who shot the photo above, thought the Apple store was on fire, but the smoke was billowing out from behind the store.

too bad i love baked apples!
We were among those who had a love-hate relationship with Ollies. Lots of bad attitude, but most excellent monton soup with delicate thin-skin wontons and fresh greens, and their perfectly balanced hot and sour soup – and fast delivery! We’ve tried others in the ‘hood again fairly recently, mostly out of boredom, but none compare. Maybe it’s time for a re-cap of who’s left standing of merit for Chinese on the UWS?
