CONTRIBUTE TO WEST SIDE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HUNGER’S THOUSAND TURKEY CHALLENGE

With Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s time for the West Side Campaign Against Hunger’s thousand turkey challenge, where people can donate turkeys that are distributed to low-income families.

The challenge starts today (Thursday) and you can participate by bringing a turkey to the Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew, or by contributing money online here.

“Volunteers will accept frozen turkeys on site in the lower level of the Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew (West End Ave. and 86th St.) on Thursday & Friday, November 15 &16/8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; Monday & Tuesday, November 19 & 20/8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.: and Wednesday, November 21/8:30 a.m.-12 noon.”

You can also volunteer by signing up here. Since last year, local churches, synagogues and other institutions have collaborated to create a local interfaith coalition to help out. Fairway Market, Gristedes and Westside Market have all made bulk turkey donations too. Last year, the drive helped 1,700 families.
